Variability of Hard Gamma Ray Emission from Active Galaxies Observed by EGRET
Abstract
During approximately the first 18 months of the Compton Observatory mission, the EGRET telescope has detected more than 20 active galaxies that are predominantly flat-spectrum radio-loud quasars. Temporal variability of the gamma-ray flux is observed in many of these sources. A summary of these observations is presented along with discussion of the implications for emission models.
